Giving Thanks for Our Heating & Cooling Systems

Nov 26, 2020 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Although 2020 has been a rough year for a lot of people, we are reminded that things could always be worse. Knowing this, it’s important to take time to appreciate the blessings we still have in life.

Of these things, having a home to keep us comfortable and safe is something we should never take for granted. We believe having home heating systems that run throughout the winter is such a blessing, a blessing that those who are less fortunate often have to go without.

Even throughout the most extreme of Ohio’s weather, our furnaces work around-the-clock to keep us warm. And during the scorching months of summer, our air conditioners keep us cool as well.

Therefore, in honor of Thanksgiving today, we at Mason Heating & Air present a list of some of the things our HVAC systems do for us year-round, things we can be grateful for, along with a list of things we can do to show our appreciation for our HVAC systems.

We are grateful for our heating and cooling systems because…

They Provide Comfort & Safety

Throughout Ohio’s extreme weather conditions, our HVAC systems provide safety and comfort in our homes for ourselves and our loved ones. Unfortunately, sometimes people don’t give these systems a great deal of consideration or respect until they lose their comfort,, whether this be from a breakdown or a power outage. When this befalls a homeowner, it’s been our experience that their perspective changes quickly. Most of the time, when a homeowner loses their comfort-systems during a cold or hot spell, it brings about a new sense of appreciation for the services they provide.

They Keep Our Air Clean

Our home heating and cooling systems help keep the indoor air we breathe clean, which plays an essential role to our overall health and well-being. Our air filters, when changed frequently and on schedule, trap impurities like dirt, dust, pet dander and other airborne particles and chemicals circulating in our air supply. Many of these airborne pollutants can cause allergy symptoms, breathing problems and other health problems. Because of this, keeping up on our air filters is indispensable. However, if you feel your air filter isn’t doing the trick, you can take steps to improve breathing conditions. We offer a whole line of Indoor Air Quality products that suit all types of situations and budgets.

They Are Energy Efficient

It’s a fairly well-known fact that when we take care of our HVAC systems the way we should, our HVAC systems take care of us in return. In terms of energy usage, this care translates into savings in heating and cooling costs. Because most newer systems have Energy Star Labels, energy efficiency is optimized in equipment that isn’t outdated. With that said, however, even if your system has the Energy Star label, seasonal maintenance is still required. Consistent HVAC system maintenance, also called tune-ups, are essential for all systems.

How We Can Show Our Appreciation

Showing our appreciation for our home heating and cooling systems in the form of action steps pays in a variety of ways. Keeping up with preventative maintenance, or getting tune-ups prior to each season of usage, is the first of these action steps. The next step involves checking and changing our air filters often to enable proper airflow. Other steps to preserve our systems and show appreciation include the following:

  • Maintain a clear and open three-foot space around systems
  • Seal air drafts and air leakages around the house
  • Checking for air leaks in loose ductwork
  • Knowing about energy efficiency steps
  • Guaranteeing you have sufficient attic insulation
  • Getting your vents and air ducts cleaned professionally
  • Cleaning outside unit regularly
  • Having a smart thermostat installed
  • Maintaining a clean home
  • Changing air filters often
  • Practice safety always!
  • Call for help if you have any issues!
